A fantastic Curry and Comedy night was held at Imber Court on Friday 14th November to raise funds for the log cabin being built for the children in the school playground.
A huge £2133.00 was raised – many thanks to all those who made such a huge effort.

The National Childrens Orchestra was started in 1978 by Vivienne Price.
At first there was one Orchestra, but this rapidly expanded to 2. |
The Middle Years
The NCO grew to 5 Age-banded orchestras with Easter and Summer courses |
NCO Today
Lots of Orchestras, lots of courses, lots of playing
NCO currently accepts around 500 children into the following age banded orchestras, which are:
Training Orchestra (age range 7 to 10 years)
This is a string Orchestra of around 60 children.
Under 11 Orchestra (age range 7 to 11 years)
This is a full symphony Orchestra of around 100 children.
Under 12 Orchestra (all under 12 years old).
Again another full symphony Orchestra of around 100 children.
The above orchestras hold a week long course in the summer.
Under 13 Orchestra(all 13 years and under) and Main Orchestras (all aged 14 and under)
These are full symphony orchestras of between 105 – 115 children. They hold an Easter course and a summer course of 8 to 9 days each and perform to the general public. |

We are very lucky to have on our doorstep a wonderful choir at Hampton Court. It is open to boys from 7+ and a number of ex-Emberhurst boys are involved.
Every year, places are available for boys to become choristers in the choir of the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court. Singing in a choir such as this would provide him with one of the most superb foundations for music, and would complement his education and capacity for learning. The work requires – and develops – musical memory, aural alertness and reading skills, all based on the voice.
For more info please go to: www.chapelroyal.org or the Director of Music at Hampton Court, Carl Jackson, is happy to provide further information about the choir. He may be contacted by e-mail: music @ chapelroyal . org
ENQUIRIES AND APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED AT ANY TIME IN THE YEAR

Dear Mrs. Chadwick,
I hope you remember Daniel Douthwaite who left Emberhurst in 2004.
I wanted to let you know of his progress and to thank you and your team for giving him such a good start to his educational life.
He is now 12 years old and will be in his last year at Parkside when he returns in September. It was through your advice and guidence that we selected Parkside and it has proved to be an excellent choice.
He has a place confirmed at Reeds depending on his Common Entrance results next year.
He plays clarinet (grade 3) and drums for the big band at school and sings in the choir.
He is playing cricket for the Surrey County team and when he returns in September he will be Deputy Head Boy of Parkside.
We cannot thank you enough for not only providing us with great advice about his next school but also providing Daniel with the very best start possible.
Best regards
Lorraine Douthwaite

LEAH trains volunteers to teach practical everyday English 1:1 to local residents (in the boroughs of Kingston and Richmond) who are unable to attend college (mainly women with young children).
They currently need a Director and a Kingston Co-ordinator, both part-time. The salaries are not huge but it is a wonderful organisation.
If you would like to know more, please email leah@leah.org.uk or visit www.leah.org.uk
